Explanation to Answers

2. Ramesh is 7th rank from the top. Since totally 35 students in the class, Ramesh is (35+1) - 7 = 36 - 7 = 29th rank from the bottom.

3. A particular tree is eighth from either end of the row means 7 trees + particular tree + 7 trees = 15.
Or 8 + 8 - 1 = 15.
We can use (2n - 1) as total number of trees if one particular tree is 'n'th position from either end.

4. Vimala's rank from the first = 34 - 11
=23rd.
So vishnu's rank = (23-8) =15th from the top.

5. Number of passed students
= 14 + 19 - 1 = 32
Total number = passed + failed
+ Non participation
= 32 + 8 + 8 = 48

6. S < M < R
H < R < A
Here we cannot establish a relation between Satheesh and Hari.
So Either Satheesh or Hari is the shortest.

7-8

S is the heaviest
R is the tallest.

10.Here the number of students between Arun and Ram is
{39 - (14+17)} = 8.

12. Respective ranks of Rani and Vani from the bottom are (39 - 13)
and (39 - 14).
So their respective ranks from the bottom are 26th and 25th.

13 - 15
In a class of boys and girls, Vimala's rank is 8th and her rank is 52nd from the other end.
So the total number of students in the class is (8 + 52 - 1) = 59
Raghu's rank among boys is 6th and his
rank from the other end among boys is 26th.
So total number of boys in the class is
(6 + 26 - 1) = 31
Hence the total number of girls is
(59 - 31) = 28
Vimala's rank among the girls from the other end (29 - 3) = 26th
